About Us

The Center for Courts and the Community works with local courts and community leaders to enhance public confidence in the justice system and promote innovative civic engagement and education. The Center for Courts and the Community’s mission is to:

  • Inform and educate the public about the courts;
  • Engage young people and adults across New York in the work of the courts: and
  • Demonstrate the commitment of the judiciary to understand and meet community needs.

The Center was created by the New York State Unified Court System and the Center for Court Innovation in 2006 to help ensure that New York State’s judiciary maximizes its efforts to help New Yorkers understand how courts work and the role they play in our democracy.
