New York State’s courts cover a large and diverse range of jurisdictions; exemplary programs with proven track records exist across New York State. Many judges already participate in outreach activities. Others are willing to participate, but don’t have the resources to coordinate activities that best suit their communities. The Center’s role is to identify those programs, get the word out about them, and support jurisdictions that want to replicate and adapt these ideas.
The Center has the following initiative to support judicial outreach:
Attendance Court: a pilot truancy prevention program that provides students and their families with resources in order to keep chronically absent students out of family court.
